                                                         Personal Learning Reflection

I have learned in this course mainly about how to integrating technology into teaching, so I have some things that are effective in teaching, such as : use camera in oral presentation, use Voki to practice oral Chinese, use blog to share resources with students etc..Integrating the Internet in teaching help me think about that I can maximize my teaching and students’ learning by using Internet, we can continue learning outside of school setting. Thus the uses of technology will be more and more popular in second language teaching.

The assignment in session 6 “Provide a lesson or activity that effectively addresses at least two of the categories from the ISTE NETS-S covered in the Share section of Session 6.”   There are several reasons why I feel it really exemplifies good teaching with technology. First, this assignment cannot be easily realized in real teaching, it is easy to carry out. Second, this assignment makes me know a new notion “ISTE NETS”, which is really good and helpful. Third, it offers the detailed information about  ISTE NETS-s. Fourth, it cannot be related to technology when I am in real teaching, but mostly the students use the technology, so it is good for me to realize how technology can motivate themselves easily  and efficiently.

How do I meet my goals established in my Personal Growth Plan? I
think this question is good for me to look back upon what I have progressed in this course. My three goals in my Personal Growth Plan is all met after my reflection.

First Goal: To bring the broad world into limited and isolated classroom setting

In my personal growth plan, I just think about to use Google documents, blog like that to bring the plenty of information into classroom teaching. But actually I bring more into class than my goal. Because I also use Voki, Skritter and different websites into my classroom.

Second Goal: To add professional teaching resources and information feeds by boundless technology.

I learn how to use MACUL space to get the newest information in discussion forum. I learn how to use Diigo to set up my Chinese Teacher Group and connect Diigo with my personal blog. I know how to use google Reader to add professional teaching resources, and learn how to use Twitter to tweet things.

Third Goal: To avoid the inconvenience by advance learning, which means I must learn more new technologies than what is required by school.

This year, our school asks teachers to use Google APPs, for some teachers this is new and hard to master. But because of my useful learning in CEP810, this is very easy for me. So, I avoid the inconvenience by advance learning, because school requires teachers to learn Google APPs for technology development, but I have got it already before their requirement.It is GREAT!!!

Currently I don’t have new goals, because I still need to strengthen and improve my 3 goals although I have met. But I still want to continue to explore in the current 3 goals I already have. But I indeed have a long-term goal, which is to maintain and prompt the development of my teaching blog, and let students get used to Voki and Skritter.

RSS Page Reflection

This Reflection is composed by two parts:

Part 1 discuss how I might use this RSS in my own teach and learn setting.

Part 2: All the items required by RSS page Reflection.

Part 1:

At first, I think RSS Reader can aggregate information together, this will help my professional development after my teaching in school.

Second, I could use those information to design my curriculum to better students’ learning.

Third, for my professional learning community, I could share those information with Chinese teachers to make resources sharing come into true.

I upload two screenshots:  one is about the people and blog I follow and my comments on them; the second one is about the feeds I added to my RSS Reader, four feeds required by our course and more than 4 feeds relative to Mandarin Chinese teaching.

Why a student's interest should be emphasized? The project-based courses, virtual offerings, community-based interships and capstone projects can foster the interest. Only the interest can last for a long lifetime study and deep thinking.Edit | Delete 4:44 PM

I checked my RSS Reader page several times in one day. And gradually get familiar with the different usages of this Reader page, and also add more links and follow more blogs and people to share information and exchange ideas.

• Describes what you have learned from the contents of the news feeds you have been tracking

As suggested, I added the four required feeds, and also add another four feeds relative to the language course I am currently teaching in high schools. One of them is a blog. And then because I checked this Reader page several times everyday, I add more feeds than required, and find it is really useful to get professional development outside of school and classroom.

Because currently I am a languag teacher in two high schools, so I prefer to use this Reader to share with my students and help them to learn outside class. And also like to share those information and discussion with other high school teachers to prompt teaching skills and increase free resources.
